Dear Beloved Single Socks Volunteers, Employees, and Community, on behalf of Single Socks' board of directors:
After a thorough and thoughtful Grant County-wide search, the Search Committee and the Board of Directors have chosen Abby Green to be our next store manager. I asked Abby to compose a short note to say "hello!" and to introduce herself . . .
Dear Single Socks Community,
We are all about to enter a phase of transition as Kathleen retires. From what I have heard about Kathleen, her shoes are not directly fill-able. She is so very loved. What she has done to build Single Socks and her relationship with each of you is unique and precious.
I intend to bring my own style to your organization while preserving the warmth and welcome feeling that brings you all peace, safety, and a sense of comfort. I adore the boutique atmosphere, and the connection Single Socks has with the entire Silver City community.
I am a somewhat outgoing, optimistic, highly organized, but occasionally goofy, middle-aged red-head. I enjoy laughing. I enjoy lifting others and highlighting their best qualities. I am a manage-by-example leader working on all tasks great and small. I am enthusiastic and nearly always visibly happy. Also, I love thrift store treasures and food… almost equally.
I come to this position with years of experience organizing homes, garages, and small offices. This encompasses decorating inside and outside for holidays, managing spread-sheets, move-ins, regular household purging and donating, and even organizing rat infested forgotten hoarder properties. My retail experience includes assisting artists who need an extra set of hands in their sales booth or shop, managing estate sales, selling my own recycled crafts, working at Barnes and Noble, and the Humane Society amongst volunteers and caretakers. My varied experiences have given me an open mind and eye toward sales and a broad perspective when it comes to working with all sorts of co-workers and shoppers.
In the next couple of months, I hope that all of you will be willing to share your stories with me, your joys, your challenges, your expertise, your thoughts, etc.
I am here to listen and learn. I feel incredibly honored to be able to work with you all to raise money for anti-hunger programs in such a beautiful community-oriented environment. I look forward to meeting you all soon!
Yours sincerely,
Abby Green
